Denham Batts Fights for Kiwi

The Derek Corporation's Denham Batts puts his hat in the ring to raise money for Kiwis for kiwi™

I'm putting my body on the line to raise funds for Kiwis for kiwi. They are the national charity working to save the kiwi from extinction by distributing funds to community, DOC and volunteer groups.

Kiwi are in the ‘boxing ring’ every day in NZ. Our national bird is under siege from stoats, dogs, cats, rats and loss of habitat. Just one hundred years ago, there were more than a million kiwi roaming throughout New Zealand. Today, there are less than 70,000. Ninety-five percent of kiwi in the wild are killed before they reach breeding age. Without urgent action, kiwi numbers will continue to fall with the risk that they will disappear in our lifetime.
New Zealand without kiwi is unimaginable.

I’m aiming to raise $2,500 which is enough to save 25 kiwi from pests and predators. Kiwi can live to 60 years and can lay up to 100 eggs in their lifetime, so every bird we save can have a profound impact on the population.
